The architect and photographer Martin Maleschka, born in Eisenhüttenstadt, has developed an installation for the robotron canteen which, based on historical postcards, documents the largely already disappeared legacy of ‚Eastern Modernism‘ from Prager Straße to Neustädter Markt in Dresden.

Martin Maleschka’s installation provides insights into originally envisaged urban planning perspectives and shows surprising details of still existing as well as already disappeared build heritage. A projection shows footage from the process of demolition that has already taken place on the former robotron site. Maleschka himself sees himself as an ambassador who wants to promote the cultural value of the artistic and built heritage of the GDR with a deliberately personal approach that is as free of ideology as possible. The postcards can be taken home by visitors. Donations are welcome.
